Landfills are basically a large dug-out in
the ground lined and covered with plastic. If
you've ever done any gardening or yard work using
plastic liners to attempt to keep out weeds, roots,
and burrowing animals and insects, then perhaps you
are aware of the feebleness of such an endevour. It
is impossible that a mere plastic liner could keep
out Mother nature. But obviously nobody told Allied
Waste that, because they insist on using a flawed
technology.
